One repatriated Belgian has tested positive for the novel coronavirus
The nine Belgians that arrived on Sunday evening (02/02/2020) from Wuhan, have undergone tests at the Military Hospital in the Brussels District of Neder-Over-Hembeek. One of them has been found to be infected with the novel coronavirus. The test results for the other people repatriated on Sunday were all negative. Everyone got their test results.
The infected person is currently in good health and is as yet not displaying any symptoms. Monday evening (03/02/2020), he has been taken to the Saint Peter’s Hospital in Brussels, one of the two referral centres in our country. This hospital offers the necessary medical expertise and guidance to guarantee the best care.
In addition to the repatriated Belgians, one person of Danish origin also stayed in Neder-Over-Hembeek for the past two nights. The person in question was not able to travel on to Denmark on Sunday evening. The test results for the Danish citizen are negative. He will be transferred this morning to the good care of the Danish government.
After the challenging living conditions the Belgians experienced in China, and a long return flight, they can now rest from their journey and receive the best medical care in a safe setting. Over the next few days, the FPS Health will keep you informed about their health.
