Let's protect eachother against respiratory infections.

Directive for waste collection staff

The COVID-19 virus is transmitted by droplets during speaking, coughing, sneezing,… over a distance of 1.5 meters. The protective measures for COVID-19 are the same as for other acute respiratory tract infections that spread through small droplets, such as flu. That is why the same hygiene rules now apply as during the annual flu epidemic.

    • Because transmission occurs through droplets and contact with infected surfaces, and not through the air, wearing a mouth mask offers no protection against infection.
    • There is no need for special protective equipment, the standard clothing (including gloves) is sufficient.
    • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth while working.
    • Hand hygiene is extremely important. Wash your hands several times a day (and especially if you remove the gloves) with soap and water for 40 to 60 seconds, or use hand alcohol.
    • If you have symptoms of respiratory tract infection (cough, sore throat, fever…), contact your doctor by telephone.
