28 new Covid-19 coronavirus infections
On 9 March, 443 samples were analysed by the network of the KULeuven reference hospital. 28 samples tested positive for Covid-19 virus (17 in Flanders, 3 in Brussels and 8 in Wallonia).
Since the beginning of the epidemic, 267 cases of Covid-19 infections have been detected in Belgium.
The trend observed this weekend continues this Monday. Over the last 3 days, the laboratories have detected 31, 39 and 28 samples tested positive for Covid-19 respectively. There is currently no exponential increase in the number of cases. The return from holidays in Italy is now behind us and the people who are sick know that it is very important to stay at home, to avoid the spread and to protect those close to them. This situation allows to temporarily slow down the number of cases.
However a local circulation is observed all over Belgium and new cases will still be detected in the upcoming days. We remind you that it is very important to isolate yourself at home as soon as you are ill (fever, cough, breathing difficulties) and to contact your family doctor. Everyone should avoid as much as possible contact with risk groups, such as the elderly and people with underlying disorders.
