159 patients discharged from hospital
On Friday 15 May, 345 new cases were reported. Of these, 208 live in Flanders, 99 in Wallonia and 36 in Brussels. We have no information on the residence of the other 2 cases. This brings the total number of confirmed infected people to 54 989.
The rest of the situation is as follows:

The total number of people admitted to hospital with coronavirus symptoms now stands at 1 750. There have been 65 new hospital admissions in the last 24 hours.

There are a total of 364 patients in intensive care, which is a decrease of 16 patients in the past 24 hours.

14 460 have been discharged from hospital and declared cured since 15 March, which is an increase of 159 in the past 24 hours.

A total of 9 005 deaths were reported, which is an increase of 47 in the past 24 hours. Of those 47 people, 25 died in hospital and 22 in a residential care centre. In the latter group, 73% were confirmed by a COVID test.

Of the total of 9 005 people, 48% died in hospital, 51% in a residential care centre, 0.2% at home and 0.4% elsewhere. The hospital deaths are all confirmed cases. The deaths in residential care centres were both confirmed (23%) and suspected (77%) cases.

The number of people confirmed infected in Belgium is still increasing. The number of new hospital admissions is gradually decreasing. So please persevere and follow the general measures, take good care of yourself and of others.
